Located on 14.5 park:like acres, Kahi Mohalas 88:bed facility is Hawaiis only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security. POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse performs nursing assessment, initiates the patients treatment plan for identified patient needs, intervenes according to established standards of care and current acceptable nursing practice, and evaluates results of nursing care: modifying treatment plans as indicated. The RN provides leadership and guidance through role modeling selected evidence based nursing interventions to address patient specific goals/treatment. The RN follows safety policies/procedures and monitors unit compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and other Performance Improvement initiatives. The RN receives, transcribes, and accurately carries out physician/LIP orders while maintaining independent professional judgment within the RN scope of practice. Performs other duties as required. The RN reports to the Clinical Director for programmatic reporting with a dotted line relationship to the Director of Nursing. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing or otherwise qualified for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii. BSN preferred. Must possess and maintain Hawaii licensure or interim permit to practice as an RN. Experience: Prior experience in nursing is required. Experience in a psychiatric setting, inpatient and/or outpatient, with active:duty military and veterans is preferred. Knowledge: Must pass a written exam covering general and psychotropic medication administration. Must be able to complete a nursing assessment including mental status exams. Plan and evaluate nursing care and able to perform psychiatric and medical nursing interventions. Special Skills/Equipment: Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a team. Ability to supervise other staff resulting in positive patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. Physical Requirements: Must meet basic health requirements of Kahi Mohala physical examination including TB clearance.
