Dow AgroSciences Research and Development (DAS R and D) has an exciting and challenging opening for a Field Station Operations Lead in Hawaii. The Hawaii R and D Field Station Operations Lead is responsible for providing operational and administrative leadership at the DAS' R and D Field Station on Molokai. As a member of our Hawaii management group, the Operations Lead will also provide visible leadership for Environmental Health and Safety, Quality and Compliance, development of people, development of facility capacity, and help improve the use and understanding of technology.
Primary Responsibilities:
: Provide administrative leadership for the station including staff planning and development, budget administration and capital planning in support of the implementation of our Trait Introgression (TI) and Trait Development (TD) projects
: Lead agronomic activities and initiatives to support the maintenance of the farm platform including; agronomy, insect and weed control, crop nutrition, irrigation, and field planning
: Support operationally the complex breeding programs supporting business objectives in the areas of trait introgression, and trait product development
: Help lead the delivery of the Environmental Health and Safety (EH and S) program
: Lead Performance Management activities for Professional and Technical staff
: Participate and advocate for a culture of process improvement in support of functional activities in Hawaii
: Provide leadership and support for upgrading the technical capacity in Molokai
: Develop staff through coaching and training in technical and leadership skills
: Collaborate with our Project Managers and farm support resources to ensure our project priorities are met
: Collaborate with Global DAS seed facilities and functions to exchange ideas in order to maximize performance of the team.
: Travel to other Dow AgroSciences facilities worldwide as needed (5).
Qualifications
: Bachelors, Masters or doctoral degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or related field
: Minimum 5 years of industry related experience in agronomy
: Demonstrated skills of operational leadership in an field research setting, Agronomy, Integrated Pest Management, Plant breeding practices associated with Trait Introgression, Trait development, and the seeds business.
: Experience with tropical agriculture is a plus.
: Strong interpersonal effectiveness and personal leadership skills required, effective coaching skills are essential
: Technical proficiency in the use of multiple computer applications and sound analytical skills are necessary for success.
The recognition of the importance of promoting a strong culture of employee health and safety is essential.
: Ability to perform in a multicultural, slightly remote setting will be essential for success in this position.
